Dragon Boat racing
Every year on the first Sunday in July something begins
to stir in the water. This is the great day of Dragon boat racing where
we hold our annual event on the Thames at Canbury Gardens, Kingston.
The event gets bigger each year and this year we
attracted the most entrants so far in our four-year history, 33 crews
of between 12-16 members plus a drummer. A carnival atmosphere was
evident from the fancy dress and headgear of the crews. Teams with
crazy names such as Tequila Slammers and Hawaii-Wino-O's certainly kept
the spectators amused, the bouncy castles kept the kids busy, and the
refreshment tent, BBQ and Boaters Inn ensure energy levels were
topped-up all day.
So if you and your mates want a challenge, why not enter
a team next year?
The date is Sunday 22nd 2007. So contact us for an
entry form or more details, or click

Kid's Out
The Rotary Kid's Out day provides fun and happiness for
special needs children. This event started in 1990 with Kingston, New
Malden and Surbiton Clubs in association with Littlewoods, taking 200
children to a theme park for the day. It has now gone national and in
June 2004 in excess of 25,000 special needs children plus 1,700
volenteers made up of teachers, carers, Rotarians and other helpers
joined in events on land, water, air and rail for a fantastic day out.
In the Kingston area for our 15th annual Rotary Kids Out we entertained
300+ children at Thorpe Park, on a Thames river boat ride aboard
"Richmond Venturer" and with a theatre group called "Oily Carte". All
the children are provided with T-shirts, caps and badges and are
transported in vehicles that are decorated with stickers, balloons and
ribbons, which certainly makes sure that it is a day that the children
will remember for a long time.

Fireworks Display
Remember, remember
The 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot,
For I see no reason,
Why gunpowder and treason
Should ever be forgot.
And what a way to remember it by going to the annual fireworks display,
held at Kingsmeadow Athletic ground, Kingston Road, Kingston, Surrey.
x tons of fireworks...
music by the local radio station...
food...
and more...
